Ann

My Memories of Ann

Ann is our artistic sister. Ann was very popular in high school. She starred in the school play, "Calamity Jane," during her junior year and illustrated cartoons for the school newspaper. Maybe her extroverted character was a result of being saddled with the name Priscilla? It's one of those names that makes you either neurotic or exotic. You either spend your life "coping" with that name or you learn to take it in stride. I think Ann opted for the latter.

In her younger years Ann was something of a wag. I remember one time when it snowed we built a snowman on the side yard our next door neighbor's oldest son, Dennis, came into the yard and kicked over the snowman. Everybody was upset but Ann had an idea for revenge. We rebuilt the snowman but inside the base we put a five gallon bucket packed with the wet, heavy snow. Dennis came back on another "raid" and saw the snowman. He ran up to the snowman and kicked with all his might. I can't remember whether he cussed or cried, but he learned a hard lesson about messing with other people's snowmen.
